New Orleans 1885: Vermont State Exhibit.....
The State of Vermont exhibit was located in the northern portion of the Government & States Building. The centerpiece of the 4,000 square-foot exhibit was the eighteen foot-high "Arch of Titus". The arch was modeled after its counterpart in Rome, and constructed from numerous varieties & colors of the finest marbles and granites quarried in the state. A small frame building, built of various types of timber found in Vermont, contained a display comparing the kitchens of 1784 and 1884. Surrounding the frame building were located displays of woolen goods, agricultural products, honey, and a comprehensive exhibit of the maple sugar industry. Additionally, an excellent display of Vermont's fauna and flora were shown, including a complete herbarium.
